Seremban, 1 September 2026 – The Seremban City Council (MBS) received a complaint published in Utusan Malaysia dated 29 August 2026 regarding foul-smelling river water that had been disturbing residents in Kampung Kayu Ara, Mambau. Following the complaint, the MBS Legal and Enforcement Department conducted an investigation on 30 August 2026 and found that the foul odour was believed to have originated from a premises carrying out activities involving the processing of animal offal to be used as fish feed. The inspection found that the premises was owned by a Malaysian national and operated by two Myanmar nationals who were holders of UNHCR cards. However, the owner of the premises was not present at the location during the inspection and raid. During the raid, the workers were found disposing of liquid waste into a nearby tributary, which was believed to be the cause of the pollution and foul odour. As an immediate enforcement measure, MBS issued a compound notice for operating without a licence. MBS also seized one water compressor, one induction motor and three fuses to prevent the premises from continuing its operations. A notice ordering the immediate cessation of operations and closure of the premises was also issued and displayed at the premises. MBS seizure tape was also placed around the premises as part of the enforcement action. A follow-up inspection was subsequently conducted, and it was found that the premises had complied with the notice by ceasing its operations. The two foreign workers involved were also no longer present at the location. The enforcement operation was also carried out with the assistance of the Department of Environment (Forensic Unit) and the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
