SEREMBAN: Located at Kampung Chedang, a 130-years old railway train will be developed as one of the tourist attractions in the district.

Shamaruddin Saidin, Seremban City Council Tourism Unit Chief said that this tourism product that will be known as Rahang Historical Rail Tourism, is targeted to complete early next year.

He added that the location has its own distinctive features and it was considered as the most important transportation history in this district since 1891.

“A signboard and replica, complete with history information will be installed at this location to facilitate the tourist.

“The historical railway track involving the Seremban-Port Dickson route will become a tourist location-based community and hopefully as a tourist attraction to Seremban,” he said during the Gotong-Royong of ‘Rahang Historical Rail Tourism 2021’ at Kampung Chedang here today.

Mary Josephine Prittam Singh, a Member of State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) Rahang also present at the event.

Shamaruddin said that the 100 metre of railway track which was closed down in 2008, was previously part of the 40 kilometres train route connecting Seremban and Port Dickson to transport the tin ore, silk cloth and coffee beans.

It is the second railway track in Malaysia after Kuala Sepetang in Taiping, Perak. Furthermore, the track also played a part of the history and as an important facility during the British colony.

Meanwhile, Mary Josephine said that she was grateful with gotong-royong conducted to clean the railway track and she added that it is considered one of the national treasure items that need to be preserved.
